Volunteer Weeks

At Simply Camvas Farm

Peace, nature, and rolling up your sleeves. Come help us during the volunteer weeks at our retreat center in the Dordogne. For one or more weeks.

Volunteer Work

A great way to make a difference

Volunteering is a great way to take a break, and your contribution brings us so much joy. In April, we always have one or two volunteer weeks to get our retreat center fully ready before the retreats begin. We paint, do odd jobs, garden, and clean. Another option is to volunteer during our retreats; you’ll support us in a different way while the retreats are in session.

Spring Volunteer Week

Will you join us to help kick off our season? Enjoy the first rays of spring sunshine while doing a little odd job work, gardening, cleaning, painting, and getting our place ready for the season. Of course, we’ll also enjoy some good food and chat around the campfire. These are physically active weeks! Your stay includes free full board, of course. We work from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the afternoon. We’re a small, friendly group of about 4–8 people.

Volunteer for a few weeks during our season, sometime from late May to mid-September.

From late May through mid-September, we have openings for volunteers to help out during the retreat season, when we welcome guests who come to enjoy their retreat abroad. The work mainly consists of tidying up, cleaning, and making sure our little spot stays looking nice for the guests. You’ll sleep in a tent—not a safari tent, but a larger, regular tent with a real mattress. It’s essential that you have your own car during your stay. You’ll work two hours in the morning and in the evenings when we’re cooking, plus the entire morning on the day a retreat ends. Your stay includes all meals during the retreats. You’ll take care of your own meals when we’re not cooking (you can use whatever ingredients we have left, or buy something yourself).

How to Sign Up

To Volunteer in France

Please contact us if you'd like to volunteer

Please contact us via email or the WhatsApp button if you’re interested. Also let us know if you have any special skills in gardening, handywork, art, or website/social media. Doing odd jobs on the farm is always quite physically demanding; there’s a lot of heavy lifting and hauling involved. If you have a bad back or other very painful physical conditions, we’re usually not the right place for you to spend time.

If we haven’t met you yet, we always schedule a Zoom call. That way, we can discuss everything in detail and get to know each other online first.

Other Volunteer Opportunities Throughout the Year

Feel free to contact us anytime if you’d like to volunteer. Sometimes there are other times of the year when we suddenly have openings for volunteers or when a group of volunteers drops by unexpectedly. We generally host volunteers for 1 to 2 weeks. If you’d like to volunteer outside of an organized workweek with multiple volunteers, you’ll need your own transportation and must come with at least one other person.

From November through mid-March, we’re generally in “hermit mode” and keep the place entirely to ourselves. During that time, we almost never accept volunteers.
