The Offline Getaway: Digital Detox Retreat Holiday in the French Countryside

Digital Detox retreat holiday 2026:

  • 31 July until 5 August and
  • 2 until 7 September

Join The Offline Club for five days of unplugged bliss at Simply Canvas Farm, a beautiful permaculture farm in the Southwest of France, surrounded by nature.

Disconnect from your phone and other digital distractions and unwind at a place where the campfire crackles, hammocks gently sway, and worries of your day-to-day are far, far away.

At The Offline Club’s Digital Detox Retreat, everything is taken care of so you can relax, slow down, recharge, and enjoy the things that really matter to you. And all that surrounded by an inspiring group of like-minded people.

I became easily present with the people here, who came from all over the world and it was as if we all knew each other already. – Brian-

What to expect?

  • Screen-free days: Hand in your phone and discover what you enjoy doing without it.
  • Soothing nature: Wander through our permaculture garden, listen to the silence, gaze at the campfire and the starry sky.
  • Time for yourself: Finally finish that book, swing in a hammock, let your creativity bubble up and go painting, writing, or playing guitar. It’s up to you.
  • Connection: Connect naturally with yourself and with others. Join in for a meditation.
  • An international group of like-minded people: The main spoken language is English, however there are Dutch, French and many more language background.

Digital Detox Retreat: The Program

Forget about timetables, meetings and FOMO - our lives are too busy already!

At The Offline Getaway, there is no program - everything happens spontaneously. You can do whatever, whenever. Wake up easily and read or journal in a hammock, go on a walk in nature, cuddle with Maya the pig, take a nap by the pool, start a drawing or painting, or do nothing at all. The only goal of our digital detox retreat is to slow down to a snail’s pace, be present, clear your mind and reconnect with yourself, nature and the people around you. You don’t have to worry about anything - we take care of it all.

Food from the garden and campfire

At night, indulge in our home-made dinners with vegetables from the farm’s garden, stargaze by the campfire, and enjoy fun and interesting conversations with the other participants. But only if you feel like it - there are zero social obligations.

One month on from spending five days at Simply Canvas Farm on a digital detox retreat and still feeling the peace and joy of my stay. Perfect hosts: fantastic food, fantastic location to escape from the world, and a beautiful feeling of relaxation that lasts beyond the stay. -Alison-

The Program of no Program

There is something to do every day:

Each day, there is a single optional activity you can join, such as meditation, a silent walk, a sharing circle, or a tour of the permaculture garden.

  • Stay and relax at Simply Canvas Farm: This is your chance to finally finish that book in a hammock, enjoy drawing and painting, do yoga on your own in the zendo, take a siesta by the pool, and stargaze by the campfire (art supplies, yoga and meditation mats, games, and books are all available).
  • Explore the area: You can also visit a slow-paced 12th-century village on market day, swim in the Dordogne, walk around the lake, or go wine tasting at a local winemaker. For outings, you’ll need a (paid) transfer (which the hosts can arrange for you a day in advance), or you can coordinate with other guests who came by car.
  • Share your talents: If you feel like it, share your skills by giving a yoga class, leading a music circle, or teaching others about drawing or painting.

All activities are optional and unplanned, often spontaneously initiated by guests themselves. Visits outside of the farm may come at a small additional cost for transport if no cars are available.

So, what about phones and other digital devices?

Detoxing from social media and endless notifications is one of the main advantages of our digital detox retreat. It can also be a challenge, because 5 days is truly a detox. It allows you to refocus, rest and open your mind to new ideas and creativity. You will figure out who you are without your phone. We take your phone, laptop and other digital devices upon arrival and lock them up safely. E-readers are allowed. Of course, we can be reached at all times by your friends and family for emergencies. And if you really need to speak to a friend or family member, just let us know, we’re not that strict.

💛Hands down the best experience of my life - and the best holiday I've ever had! The most wonderful, welcoming hosts, peaceful and beautiful location, and amazing food. I genuinely wish I could go and live there forever - it's like another world! 💛 -Leanne-

Digital Detox Retreat: The Group

You’ll spend The Offline Getaway with 16-20 like-minded people, all with the same intention: a weekend of rest and time for themselves, open to connect and socialise when they feel like it. The main speaking language is English, but we will receive people from all over the world.

Anyone is welcome: young and old, men and women, and from any cultural background. During past editions, we’ve welcomed both men and women between 23 and 68 from Slovakia to England and from The Netherlands to the United States. All warm, open and fun. ❤️

The combination of no online distractions, wonderful people, animals and nature, fantastic little towns and markets, a delightful pool, and not to forget delicious food and special moments of shared silence... It leaves you wanting more! - Ingeborg-

The Faces Behind The Offline Getaway at Simply Canvas Farm

Our Digital Detox Retreat is a special collaboration between The Offline Club and Simply Canvas Farm. The Offline Club, founded in Amsterdam by 29-year-olds Jordy, Valentijn and Ilya, is on a mission to reconnect people with themselves and others, in the non-digital world. They are growing fast and Lea recently joined the team. They organize offline events in cities, and digital detox retreats all around the world: The Offline Getaway. Simply Canvas Farm is founded and run by Sandra (55) and Santi (50), two former monastics in Plum Village, a Buddhist Monastery. Sandra and Santi will lead The Offline Getaway, together with one representative from The Offline Club.

A Match Made in Heaven

The Offline Getaway and Simply Canvas Farm are a match made in heaven, as both aim to inspire people to slow down and find true (human) connection, offline. In 2024, we organised our first five-day Digital Detox Retreat together, and it was fantastic. Here’s how Ilya experienced the Digital Detox Retreat:

The Offline Getaway at Simply Canvas Farm was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. It left a huge mark on me and has changed the way I live: more present, more intentional, slower. Sandra and Santi are among the kindest and most inspiring people I have met and the connection I felt to the other participants was beyond expectations. - Ilya Kneppelhout, co-founder, The Offline Club-

What About Food and Drinks?

These five days are all-inclusive, and you will be treated to delicious meals three times a day. Sandra and Santi are known for their culinary skills using fresh, local and organic vegetables, edible flowers, and other products from their own garden. All meals are vegetarian. Allergies? We can accommodate almost all allergies - please inquire before your stay. Would you like to eat gluten-free? That's possible, we charge an extra €5 per day for this.

As for drinks, there is a large common area (the former cow shed) where you can make coffee and herbal tea all day, for free (you can pick the herbs yourself in the garden). If you fancy soft drinks, wine, cappuccinos or ice cream, you can grab those from the “honesty fridge” at an affordable price, due at the end of your stay. Feel free to bring your own snacks or drinks for in-between-moments and store them in our refrigerators.
