Food Forest and Permaculture

Discover our 5-hectare food forest and permaculture garden.

Food forests and permaculture are becoming increasingly popular, and on our site, you will find various techniques of food forests. But what is a food forest? The layout or design of a food forest is inspired by the structure of a natural forest, but in a food forest, we mainly plant trees, shrubs, and plants that yield a harvest for people. It is a sustainable food system with a wide variety of fruit and nut trees, berries, edible leaves, tubers, mushrooms, and more. When you design a food forest well, you can harvest something almost year-round.

At Simply Canvas Farm, we take it a step further. We design our domain according to the principles of permaculture.

But what is Permaculture? For us, it is the art of designing our living environment in a sustainable way, where we see nature as our guide. So, a food forest is a part of permaculture, but permaculture goes beyond that. The three basic principles of permaculture are: care for the earth, care for people, and fair share. Permaculture, therefore, focuses not only on sustainable gardening but also looks at aspects such as water management, energy conservation, sustainable construction, and relationships between people.

Come and enjoy a slow life at Simply Canvas Farm

What does this all mean for visitors of Simply Canvas Farm? In short, we ourselves love a slow life in connection with people and nature, as well as comfort, diversity, and abundance. This is what we share with you. A holiday, workshop, or retreat where you can relax in abundant nature, pick leaves for your own herbal tea, and have a chat with other people. Where you can learn something about nature or retreat to recharge. Where we treat you to delicious meals with edible flowers, vegetables, and fruits from our own garden, and where you can pick handfuls of figs and plums while walking and end the day around the campfire and under the stars. You are most welcome.
