Surroundings
Saint Jean de Duras is a tiny little village with 250 inhabitants spread over around 5km2 on the border of the Lot et Garonne, Dordogne and Gironde departments. It belongs to the Aquitaine region of South West France and is only 30 minutes from Bergerac. The four larger and charming bastide villages; Eymet, Miramont, Duras and Ste Foy la Grande are all within 10-15 min. away. Here you find large supermarkets, great fêtes de villages, farmer’s markets, restaurants and shops.
If you love to go out for walks, you can start straight from our property and walk into the field where you will be surrounded by vineyards, sunflower seeds and superb views. There is a chemin randonée starting right outside our property. The closest bakery is within cycling distance and there is a tiny supermarket 5 minutes away by car. Download HERE our local travel guide with lots of nice things to do.
An Impression
Our area is sometimes referred to as the Tuscany of France and there are lots of things to do. Do you like wine? There is more than enough choice in wine chateaus all very close by. We have also gathered a best off from our guests over the years. You can canoo or swim in the Dordogne river close by (20min.). An enormous big castle (chateau de Bridoire) filled with medieval games (15min), a great swim lake with large slide and beach (30 min.), where we love to go ourselves with friends. But also the famous Saint Emilion (45min) or the elegant Bordeaux (1.5h) make lovely day outings and Sarlat (2h) itself, a medieval town where lots of medieval movies have been filmed is very much worth your while.
